The closing of the operation of submitting candidacies for the national legislative elections took place on Saturday July 15, 2023 in the province of Maï-Ndombe. Unfortunately, a low level of enthusiasm was observed, suggesting an election with low turnout. In fact, only the BRTC of the city of Inongo has received about fifteen applications, while in the other territories, no application has yet been submitted.
This situation raises concerns on the part of the provincial executive secretary of the CENI Mai-Ndombe, Faustin Ngokumu. He deplores this lethargy and invites the candidate candidates to hurry to file their candidacy, while there are only a few hours left before the official closing.
The executive secretary expressed his regret at the attitude of the candidates who are waiting for the last days to come forward. He points out that since the opening of the BRTC on June 28, some branches have still not received an application. Only a few territories like Inongo, Mushie, Kutu and Kiri have registered some applications, but overall the progress is very slow.
In the province of Maï-Ndombe, there are a total of 12 seats to be filled in the national legislative elections. It is therefore essential that the candidates mobilize quickly in order to guarantee adequate representation for the province.
This situation may reflect a lack of political dynamism within the province of Mai-Ndombe. It is therefore essential that candidates become aware of the importance of their participation and their commitment to the political life of their region.
The next few days will be decisive for the registration of candidacies in the province. Let’s hope that this last day will be marked by an influx of candidates wishing to volunteer to represent their territory and contribute to the development of the province of Maï-Ndombe.
It is time for the inhabitants of the region to mobilize and make their voices heard by actively participating in this electoral process. Indeed, their political commitment is essential to allow fair and balanced representation within the National Assembly.
National legislative elections are an opportunity for citizens to choose the representatives who will represent them at the national level. It is therefore important that candidates present themselves in large numbers and that voters mobilize to exercise their right to vote.
It remains to be hoped that this situation of low participation is only a simple delay in the process and that in the coming days, many candidacies will be submitted, thus giving a new dynamic to this crucial political event for the province of Maï-Ndombe.
