“Alert: ADF rebels continue their murderous attacks in Ituri, the population in danger!”

According to the latest information confirmed by Master John Vuleverio, Coordinator of the new Congolese civil society in Mambasa, the rebels of the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF) again carried out an incursion into the Babila Bakwanza chiefdom on Thursday 13 July 2023.

According to figures reported by POLITICO.CD, the toll of this attack has increased, with 12 civilians now killed, including 9 north of Elake village and 3 in Mangina-Pori, in the Babila Bapwele group, in the province of ‘Ituri.

In addition, Master John Vuleverio is concerned that more than 20 other dead bodies, civilians shot dead by the same terrorists on their return from clashes against a Maimai self-defense group, are still present on the ground in Mangina- Pori.

Faced with this situation, he urges the military authorities to intensify their offensive operations and to take serious measures against the enemy.

These recurrent attacks by ADF rebels in Ituri province are extremely worrying and underline the need for a rapid and effective response from the security forces. The local populations live in constant fear and are the first victims of this violence.

It is therefore crucial that the competent authorities strengthen security in the region, by intensifying military operations and putting in place protective measures for civilians. The fight against armed groups and the restoration of peace and security are major challenges for the development and well-being of the Congolese population.

It is also important to sensitize the international community to this situation in order to obtain additional support to fight against armed groups and guarantee stability in the region.

In conclusion, it is essential to put in place concrete actions to put an end to the violence perpetrated by the ADF rebels. The protection of civilians and the restoration of peace must be an absolute priority for the Congolese authorities and the international community. Only a collective and coordinated effort will put an end to this threat and guarantee the security and development of the Ituri region
