“Training in agriculture: The key to the future of agriculture in the DRC”

Agriculture training for young people in the DRC

As part of the Agenda de Transformation Agricole de la République Démocratique du Congo (ATA-DRC) project, fifteen young people from the agricultural brigade from different provinces of the country have recently benefited from training and strategic orientation in the field of farming. The African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI) organized this workshop in the adaptation field of the agro-industrial park of Karhongo-Nyangezi, located in the territory of Walungu in South Kivu.

This training enabled the youth to learn about different agricultural techniques and technologies, especially in agricultural education, modern crop production, animal production and fish farming, value addition and agricultural mechanization. They thus had the opportunity to learn and immerse themselves in best practices and the use of technologies in the field of agriculture.

This initiative is part of the ATA-DRC, which aims to accelerate agricultural transformation by increasing production, generating jobs and contributing to the reduction of food insecurity in the DRC. Doctor Emmanuel Sanginga Nteranya, stresses the importance of political will and the involvement of young people in achieving this agricultural transformation.

In addition to training, this workshop also aimed to enable young people to disseminate the knowledge acquired in their areas of intervention. Thus, these fifteen young people from the agricultural brigade will be able to put into practice the skills acquired and contribute to the revolution of agriculture in their respective provinces.

Agriculture plays a crucial role in the economic and social development of the DRC. By training and directing young people towards this sector, we promote job creation, increase agricultural production and reduce the country’s food dependence.

This agriculture training for young people in the DRC is therefore an important step in achieving the country’s objective of agricultural transformation. Thanks to the knowledge and skills acquired, these young people will be able to actively contribute to the development of the agricultural sector and the improvement of the living conditions of rural populations.

In conclusion, training young people in agriculture is essential to ensure the future of this vital sector in the DRC. By investing in their education and support, we can guarantee a sustainable and profitable agricultural transformation for all. It is therefore crucial to continue to support these initiatives and encourage the engagement of young people in agriculture
