Genocost Commemoration Event: Raising awareness about the Congolese Genocide and its impact in the Democratic Republic of Congo

August 2, 2023 will mark the unfolding of the Genocost commemoration event dedicated to raising awareness about the Congolese Genocide and its profound impact in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The CAYP organization invites people from all over the world to join them in reflection, education and showing their solidarity.

The event, which will be streamed online throughout the day, will also include physical rallies in Paris, Goma and Kinshasa. This year, the theme of the event is “The Cost of Genocide”, highlighting the devastating consequences suffered by the Congolese people. It is a solemn reminder of the lives lost, the communities shattered and the lingering trauma survivors face. Genocost aims to foster understanding and inspire action to create a better future for the Congolese people.

The event will include a live stream of an exclusive interview featuring three mining industry experts in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their expertise will shed light on the far-reaching effects of the genocide, particularly in the context of the mining sector.

In Paris, a physical gathering will take place at 10, rue des terres au curé, offering participants the opportunity to come together and take part in various activities aimed at paying tribute to the victims and supporting the survivors. In Kinshasa, a parallel event will allow the community to express its reflection and its solidarity in the face of events.

Everyone is invited to join the Genocost movement, whether in person or online. Share your thoughts, stories and support using the hashtags #Genocost #Genocost10 #Genocost2023 and #NeverForget.

The goal is to amplify the voices of those affected by the Congolese genocide and to remain united in our commitment to a better future. The event will be held on August 2, 2023, with online streaming throughout the day. Physical gatherings will take place in Paris, Goma and Kinshasa.
