The meeting of technical consultation teams for peace in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo was held recently in Goma, under the supervision of the facilitator designated by the countries of East Africa, Uhuru Kenyatta.
The objective of this meeting was to assess the progress of the process aimed at ending the crisis in this part of the country. The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of National Defense, Jean-Pierre Bemba, also participated in the meeting by videoconference.
The Kenyan facilitator stressed that this meeting was not intended to open new negotiations, but rather to ensure that the stakeholders respect the agreements already reached in Luanda and Nairobi.
