Assassination of the former Congolese Minister of Transport: A security meeting held in Kinshasa to shed light on the murder

The murder of the former Congolese Minister of Transport, Chérubin Okende Senga, has aroused great emotion in the Democratic Republic of Congo. To shed light on this shocking assassination, a security meeting was held in Kinshasa in the presence of the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge.

According to information obtained by POLITICO.CD, a preliminary investigation has been launched by the Congolese National Police to identify those involved in this crime. To strengthen this approach, the safety meeting decided to set up a multidisciplinary commission of inquiry, including all the services concerned, including foreign services. The objective is to conduct a rapid and transparent investigation to shed light on this criminal act.

The Congolese government, represented at the meeting by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Human Rights, the Governor of Kinshasa and other officials, expressed its willingness to maintain security in Kinshasa and throughout the country, despite of this traumatic assassination. The government insists that it will not allow psychosis to set in and affect upcoming events, such as the games of la Francophonie and the elections scheduled for the end of the year.

Faced with the accusations launched by certain opponents with regard to the power in place, the government stressed that it was premature to draw conclusions before the start of the multidisciplinary investigation. The Minister of Communication and Media recalled that the priority was to let the commission of inquiry do its job and to obtain concrete results.

Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde expressed his dismay at the assassination of MP Chérubin Okende, highlighting his contribution as a member of the government for two years and his passion for Congo. He is committed to ensuring that all light is shed on this crime, which goes against the republican principles defended by the Head of State.

This tragic assassination is a reminder of the importance of guaranteeing security and stability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Congolese authorities, supported by national and foreign security services, are doing everything possible to identify the culprits and ensure that such acts do not go unpunished.

As the investigation progresses, it is essential to remain vigilant and support efforts to strengthen security and justice in the DRC. Such an act of violence must not shake the country’s determination to continue on its path to peace and prosperity.
