A tragic traffic accident occurred this Wednesday, July 12 on the RN1 near Tshikapa, causing the death of three people. Among the victims are a motorcycle taxi driver, a woman and a child aged only 2 years.

According to witnesses present at the scene, the accident occurred around 10 a.m. The driver of the Transco bus involved in the accident was driving at high speed and hit the motorcyclist violently. Unfortunately, the shock resulted in the instant death of all three people.

Residents of Kayala village, where the accident took place, expressed their dismay at the tragedy. They also reported that the bus driver appeared to have lost control of his vehicle at the time of the crash.

After the collision, the bus continued on its way without stopping, leaving the victims behind. The driver is currently on the run and authorities are looking for him.

Sources say the lifeless bodies of the woman and her child were taken to Tshikapa by their family to be prepared for burial.

This accident highlights once again the urgent need to improve road safety in the region. The roads of the RN1 are often the scene of serious accidents, endangering the lives of drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
