Martin Fayulu launches a mobilization campaign to make the Congolese people aware of the use of article 64 of the constitution. The latter stipulates that every Congolese has the right to oppose any individual or group of individuals who seizes power by force or who exercises it in violation of the constitutional provisions.
In his quest for a reliable electoral process, the leader of ECiDé, after an unsuccessful discussion with the president of the CENI, is convinced that this mobilization campaign is the key to preventing electoral fraud. Fayulu stresses the importance of recovering confiscated sovereignty and dignity by using the democratic tools available.
“We must mobilize to prevent the electoral travesty in preparation and assert our right to free and fair elections. It is our duty as Congolese citizens,” Fayulu said.
He insists on the need for an external audit of the electoral roll by independent experts and the presence of delegates from stakeholders in the electoral process. For him, it is inconceivable to organize elections without guaranteeing the transparency of the electoral register. Consequently, ECiDé has decided not to submit applications at all levels.
The CENI, for its part, maintains that the external audit of the electoral register is not a legal requirement, but an activity provided for in the action plan of the institution. She asserts that any audit must be based on solid arguments.
This situation raises questions about the ongoing electoral process and the importance of ensuring transparent and democratic elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Martin Fayulu’s mobilization aims to raise public awareness of the importance of article 64 of the constitution and to remind that the truth of the ballot box begins with a reliable electoral file.
It now remains to be seen how this mobilization campaign will be received by the Congolese population and whether it can really influence the course of the electoral process. One thing is certain, Martin Fayulu is determined to use all democratic means at his disposal to defend the rights and aspirations of the Congolese people
