This major step in the modernization of Kananga airport is part of a vast plan to develop airport infrastructure across the country. Indeed, after the airports of Kolwezi in Lualaba and Mbuji-Mayi in Kasaï-Oriental, it is now Kananga’s turn to benefit from these investments.
The total cost of the work amounts to 32,594,423 million US dollars, and the expected duration is two years, or 683 days. The area of the new terminal will cover 7,600 square meters. These figures bear witness to the scale of this project, which aims to offer passengers an infrastructure that meets international standards in terms of safety and comfort.
The importance of this project for the development of Kasai-Central and the DRC as a whole cannot be underestimated. Indeed, Kananga airport is a major gateway for the region, thus promoting trade and economic development.
The launch of this work was carried out by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Peter Kazadi, who invited the central Kasaian population to take ownership of this initiative launched by the Head of State Félix Tshisekedi. This is a real commitment to the development of the country and a better future for air transport in the DRC.
Modern construction was commissioned to carry out this major project. Thanks to its expertise, Kananga airport will be able to acquire a modern and functional infrastructure, thus ensuring better service to travelers.
In conclusion, the launch of modernization works at Kananga airport marks an important step in the development of air transport in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative demonstrates the Congolese government’s desire to strengthen airport infrastructure across the country, thus promoting economic growth and connectivity in the region.
