The end of the FCC-CACH coalition: a regret for Félix Tshisekedi

The FCC-CACH coalition, which brought together former President Joseph Kabila’s Common Front for Congo (FCC) and Cap pour leChange (CACH) formed by current President Félix Tshisekedi and his ally Vital Kamerhe, experienced a premature end. A regrettable situation for Felix Tshisekedi, as he expressed in a recent interview.

President Tshisekedi described the end of this political alliance as “the greatest regret”. He had invested himself fully in this coalition, hoping to be able to change things in a peaceful and fraternal way. Unfortunately, FCC members have remained frozen in their vision of power as reserved only for them. This divergence of vision ultimately led to the breakdown of the coalition.

The Head of State stressed that the FCC-CACH coalition had represented a great experience for the country, marking the first political alternation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. During this period, a former head of state could live quietly without being disturbed, while a new head of state devoted himself to the needs of the people. Unfortunately, expectations were not met.

Tensions between the FCC and the CACH had become increasingly palpable, reaching a climax with the appointment of the judges of the Constitutional Court. This decision was described as “cavalry” by the FCC, thus marking the definitive rupture of the coalition.

However, Félix Tshisekedi affirmed that he would not mourn this coalition forever and that he was ready to move on to a new phase of governance. He thus created the electoral platform of the Sacred Union of the Nation, bringing together the most representative leaders of the country to support his social project.

The end of the FCC-CACH coalition was a turning point in Congolese politics. It showed the limits of this political alliance and opened the way to new perspectives for the future of the country. Now, it remains to be seen how Félix Tshisekedi and his Sacred Union of the Nation will manage to implement their vision of change for Congo
