“Security of Congolese villages: the fight against terrorist attacks intensifies”

The security of Congolese villages is an increasingly pressing concern, and a recent terrorist attack in the village of Musandaba is tragic proof of this. The attack, attributed to Ugandan terrorists from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), took place overnight from Friday to Saturday, leaving behind a devastating toll.

According to the head of the Buliki groupement, from the Rwenzori sector, three civilians were killed during this attack, while another was kidnapped by the rebels. The victims, all men, were savagely executed with machetes in their fields. These barbaric acts leave the population of Lisasa and its surroundings in deep desolation and palpable fear.

Faced with this alarming situation, the population pleads for the installation of a military position in Livano, considered as the main passage of the ADF coming from Graben. A reinforced military presence in this strategic area could deter attacks and offer better protection to the inhabitants.

However, it is important to stress that the fight against terrorist groups cannot be solved by a military presence alone. It is essential to understand the root causes that fuel these acts of violence and to work on long-term solutions.

At the same time, it is also crucial that the international community support the efforts of the Congolese government in the fight against terrorism. Coordination of actions, intelligence sharing and technical assistance are key elements to effectively counter these threats.

Overall, there is an urgent need to strengthen the security of the Congolese people and to take concrete measures to combat the terrorist groups that are spreading terror in the country. A combination of military presence, socio-economic development of the affected areas and international cooperation could contribute to solving this complex problem
