The bloody attack attributed to Ugandan terrorists of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Musandaba village on the night of Friday to Saturday caused the death of three civilians and the kidnapping of another. According to the head of the Buliki group, from the Rwenzori sector, the victims, all men, were brutally killed with machetes in their fields.
This attack plunged the population of Lisasa and its surroundings into deep desolation and palpable fear. Local authorities and the community wonder how such violence can happen so close to home.
Mwendo Kalunga, head of the Buliki group, expresses his sadness at this tragedy: “It is total desolation and fear on the part of the population of Lisasa and its surroundings after this ADF attack. The bodies of the three victims have just been repatriated to their villages of origin.”
Following this act of violence, the population urged the installation of a military position at Livano, considered to be the main passage used by the ADF to penetrate the Graben region. The presence of security forces could help deter attacks and offer protection to the inhabitants of the area.
It is crucial to put in place security measures to counter terrorist attacks and guarantee the safety of local populations. The continuing threat from the ADF must be taken seriously, and swift action must be taken to end this deadly violence.
It is also essential to strengthen regional cooperation to effectively combat terrorist groups and prevent similar attacks from happening again in the future. The security and protection of civilians must be an absolute priority in this region affected by armed conflict.
While awaiting concrete measures, the population remains in fear of a new attack and hopes that the authorities will quickly take the necessary measures to ensure their safety and prevent further acts of violence. The fight against terrorism requires collective mobilization and international cooperation to guarantee peace and security in this troubled region
