“Insecurity in the territory of Beni: MP Celse Magezi raises major problems and proposes concrete solutions”

The provincial deputy Celse Muhindo Magezi raises serious problems with regard to security in the territory of Beni, his electoral district. According to him, despite the support of the Ugandan army (UPDF) which has sophisticated logistics, our army encounters many obstacles in its fight against the enemy. He mentions in particular logistical problems and a reduced workforce. This situation worries the deputy, because it results in massacres, burning of vehicles and other acts of violence perpetrated against the population.

Celse Magezi also deplores the negligence of certain leaders of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) in the face of alerts reported by the population. He cites the example of the Kasindi massacre, where despite the information provided by the inhabitants, the security services did not take the necessary measures. This passivity of the military authorities contributes to the worsening of the security situation.

The MP also discussed these issues with General Dic Holumu, head of the joint operation between the UPDF and the FARDC. He stresses the importance of strengthening the Congolese army by increasing its numbers and providing adequate logistics. He also insists on the need to take care of the soldiers’ needs in terms of food and medical care, in order to guarantee their commitment to joint operations with the UPDF.

To put an end to insecurity, Celse Magezi proposes holding an inclusive dialogue between the security forces, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the population. He hopes that this dialogue will allow a frank discussion in order to restore a real civil-military marriage and to find effective solutions to put an end to insecurity in the region.

The deputy also insists on the importance of widening the field of action of the joint UPDF-FARDC operation, by sending soldiers to the mountains and remote areas. He points out that the enemy continues to act with impunity in different regions, which requires a more extensive intervention to guarantee the safety of the population.

According to Celse Magezi, this situation has a significant impact on the socio-economic life of the region. In addition to the insecurity, the roads are in an advanced state of disrepair, which hinders trade and further isolates the population. He therefore calls for urgent mobilization to solve these problems and allow the socio-economic development of the Far North.

In conclusion, MP Celse Muhindo Magezi highlights the challenges facing security in the territory of Beni. He calls for concrete measures to strengthen the Congolese army, take into account the alerts of the population and expand joint operations with the UPDF. It also stresses the importance of an inclusive dialogue to restore a civil-military marriage and end the insecurity that affects the socio-economic life of the region.
