“Felix Tshisekedi favors diplomacy to resolve the conflict with Rwanda”

In an interview recently broadcast on national television, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, addressed the issue of the continuing conflict with Rwanda. Contrary to the military option often mentioned, the Head of State said he favored diplomacy to resolve this crisis.

Felix Tshisekedi expressed his confidence in diplomacy and international partners who should impose sanctions on Rwanda in order to bring him to justice. According to him, war should only be considered as a last resort. The President also insisted on the need not to break diplomatic relations with Rwanda, stressing that the two peoples should not be sacrificed because of hegemonic excesses.

In this same interview, Félix Tshisekedi stressed the importance of strengthening the Congolese Armed Forces. He said the build-up of the army needed to be supported, including by training thousands of young recruits. This measure aims to strengthen the country’s security and defend its interests against external aggression.

It is important to understand that President Tshisekedi’s position does not mean an abandonment of the DRC’s legitimate claims. On the contrary, he shows pragmatism by favoring a diplomatic approach to resolve the conflict with Rwanda. This step shows its determination to find a peaceful solution which preserves regional stability and avoids further aggravating the already fragile situation.

In conclusion, Felix Tshisekedi clearly expressed his choice in favor of diplomacy rather than war to settle the conflict with Rwanda. His confidence in international partners and his desire to strengthen the Armed Forces show his determination to preserve the peace and security of his country. It remains to be hoped that this approach will lead to a peaceful and lasting resolution of the conflict.
