Reacting to the remarks of the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi on the failure of the judiciary in the DRC, the Supreme Magistrate Prince Epenge, communicator of the Lamuka coalition, expressed his critical point of view. According to him, President Tshisekedi maintains justice in total dependence, which harms all sectors of national life.
In an interview granted to Netic-News, Prince Epenge affirms that if Congolese justice was not controlled by former President Joseph Kabila, Félix Tshisekedi could not have come to power. He thus accuses the current President of having maintained justice in total dependence in order to remain in power by cheating.
The Lamuka communicator, however, recognizes that President Tshisekedi is right to recognize his government’s failure in the justice sector. He explains that when justice does not function properly, it affects all aspects of national life. He recalls that “justice elevates a Nation” and that its dysfunction therefore leads to a regression of the whole country.
Prince Epenge goes so far as to call on President Tshisekedi to draw the consequences of his failure in the justice sector. He believes that Congo has regressed during his tenure and that the President must take responsibility for his actions.
The opponent also criticizes the fact that Félix Tshisekedi was elected President by a corrupt constitutional court, freeing thieves from prison and changing the parliamentary majority. According to him, this shows that the President benefited from the poor situation of Congolese justice to gain power.
This debate on the failure of the judiciary in the DRC once again highlights the importance of justice in the functioning of a country. By acknowledging his own mistakes, President Tshisekedi is paving the way for discussions and actions aimed at improving the Congolese justice system and ensuring genuine judicial independence.
It is essential to understand that justice is a fundamental pillar of the rule of law and that its proper functioning is essential to ensure the confidence of citizens and promote the sustainable development of the country. It is now up to political actors and civil society to work together to bring about the necessary reforms and ensure that Congolese justice can fulfill its role in a fair and equitable manner.
