The President of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly, Godé Mpoyi, recently faced a dismissal orchestrated by provincial deputies. Of the 41 elected officials present in the hemicycle, 34 voted in favor of his forfeiture, 3 voted against and 4 abstained.
The reproaches against Godé Mpoyi included in particular abuse of power and mismanagement of the legislative institution. It was the provincial deputy Mbonzi wa Mbonzi of the MLC, a party dear to Jean-Pierre Bemba, who initiated the motion of no confidence against him.
Tensions between Godé Mpoyi and the governor of the city of Kinshasa, Gentiny Ngobila, had been palpable for some time. The president of the Provincial Assembly accused the head of the provincial executive of delay in the payment of the emoluments of the provincial deputies as well as of a bad management of the finances of the city.
Faced with this confrontation, the two personalities tried to put an end to their conflict, symbolized by a handshake, in the presence of a few provincial deputies and provincial ministers.
This dismissal marks a turning point in the governance of the province of Kinshasa. The provincial deputies thus hope to establish a new political climate favorable to a more transparent and efficient management of public affairs.
It remains to be seen how this dismissal will impact the political and administrative dynamics of the province of Kinshasa in the future. In the meantime, citizens are still waiting for the measures that will be taken to improve governance and guarantee political representation that meets their expectations.
This dismissal highlights the importance of the political choices and actions of our leaders. Citizens have a responsibility to stay informed and actively participate in the political life of their country to ensure that their voices are heard and their interests are truly represented
