The Prix Découvertes RFI 2023: An opportunity for young musical talent
Since June 30, musical artists from Africa, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean have had the opportunity to take part in the Prix Découvertes RFI. This award aims to support the career development of emerging artists from these regions, members of the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
Registration for the Prix Découvertes RFI 2023 will be open until July 31 of this year. Emerging professional artists, having produced at least six titles and having an online presence through a website or a page on social networks, are invited to submit their applications.
An initial selection of around sixty candidates will be made by qualified staff from France Médias Monde before 30 September. Among these pre-selected candidates, a panel of judges, made up of professionals from the world of music and possibly qualified outsiders, will then select the 10 finalists.
The winner of the Prix Découvertes RFI 2023 will be awarded a prize of €10,000. In addition, France Médias Monde undertakes to organize a promotional concert in Paris no later than December 31, 2024, in order to highlight the talent of the winner.
Since its creation, the Prix Découvertes RFI has rewarded many talented artists such as Tiken Jah Fakoly, Rokia Traoré, Amadou and Mariam, or even Céline Banza and Alesh. Each year, a jury made up of personalities from the world of music, such as Youssou N’Dour and Angélique Kidjo, is responsible for selecting the winner.
This prize therefore offers young artists a unique opportunity to make their talent known and to benefit from financial and media support for the rest of their career. It is a springboard to international recognition and the opening of new perspectives in the music industry.
