Godé Mpoyi, former president of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly (APK), is undeterred. After his forfeiture of his post, he decided to seize the Constitutional Court to challenge this decision which he considers irregular. At the same time, he also denounces embezzlement by the provincial government of Kinshasa.
The announcement of this initiative was relayed by our colleagues from the newspaper Africanews. In a tweet, Godé Mpoyi’s relatives say: “Decided to put out of harm’s way the masters of fictitious accounts, parallel accounts and false accounting documents in the city of Kinshasa, Godé Mpoyi seizes the Constitutional Court against his forfeiture deemed irregular” .
This forfeiture was voted by the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly following a motion launched after a conflict between Godé Mpoyi and the governor of Kinshasa, Gentiny Ngobila. The honorary president of the Provincial Assembly reproached the urban authority in particular for the arrears of emoluments of the provincial deputies as well as the poor management of the Congolese capital.
Godé Mpoyi’s approach therefore aims to question the legitimacy of his forfeiture and to highlight possible embezzlement within the provincial government. This initiative testifies to its will to fight against corrupt practices and to defend the interests of the Congolese people.
We must now wait for the decision of the Constitutional Court and see if this will lead to a review of the forfeiture of Godé Mpoyi and an investigation into the alleged embezzlement. In any case, this case highlights the political and economic issues that persist in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the need for transparent and accountable governance
