Title: Review of analysis of woman-centered abortion care in Kinshasa: a step towards better reproductive health
Introduction :
On Thursday, July 7, a review of analysis and validation of data on woman-centered abortion care was held in Kinshasa. Organized by the Provincial Division of Health in collaboration with the international NGO IPAS, this evaluation aimed to examine the progress made in terms of accessibility and quality of reproductive health services in the province. Nearly 90 health professionals took part in this review, including members of the Provincial Health Division, zone chief doctors and registered nurses. This article will return to the main issues of this review and highlight the importance of improving reproductive health for Congolese women.
Analysis of progress and necessary improvements:
In this analytical review, participants reviewed data on woman-centered abortion care in the province of Kinshasa. They examined the technical and administrative achievements and performances, in order to identify the strong points and the points which require improvement. The objective was to guarantee the accessibility of reproductive health services to women and girls, while reducing stigma and promoting access to care for young people.
The inclusion of tenured nurses in this edition of the journal has made it possible to obtain a more in-depth analysis of the achievements of the past year. By involving all health zones in the province, this review was able to comprehensively assess the data and make recommendations to improve the quality of care.
The importance of women’s reproductive health:
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the African countries that has ratified the Maputo Protocol, which aims to protect women’s rights in general, and those related to abortion in particular. This annual review is part of the implementation of this protocol, and also marks the twentieth year of its implementation.
Reproductive health is a major issue for Congolese women. Access to abortion care centered on women is essential to guarantee their right to health and reproduction. By improving the quality of care, reducing stigma and facilitating access to young people, this journal contributes to the promotion of women’s reproductive health in the DRC.
