The Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Zambia have recently taken a major step in their digital development by connecting through terrestrial optical fibre. This connection project, carried out by the management consortium, aims to strengthen connectivity and improve the quality of Internet services in the region.
The Ministry of Communication and Media stressed the importance of such projects in the development of Africa and in the access of Africans to the rest of the world. Thanks to this connectivity, African countries will be able to benefit from a better quality of Internet service and an increase in connectivity between countries in the sub-region.
The launch of the terrestrial fiber optic connection between Kinshasa, Luanda and Lusaka took place in the presence of the Heads of State of Angola, Zambia and DR Congo. This project, carried out by Liquid Dataport and Angola Telecom, will improve connectivity between Angola and the COMESA region through a new fiber optic route to Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The representatives of the management consortium expressed their gratitude to the governments of the three countries for their support in carrying out this project. They also highlighted the importance of developing basic telecommunications infrastructure in Africa, which will help increase GDP and reduce communication costs.
This terrestrial fiber optic connection project represents a major step forward for the DRC, Angola and Zambia, allowing them to connect more easily to the rest of the world and benefit from the advantages of the digital economy. This opens new opportunities for economic development, education, health and other key sectors in the region
