The conference on the Post-Malabo Agenda and Implementation of the Malabo Goals in Africa, to be held in Casablanca from July 5-7, 2023, is intended to advance preparations and accelerate the achievement of these goals. Organized by the African Union Commission, in collaboration with the NEPAD Development Agency and the Regional Economic Communities, this meeting will focus on the development of the Post-Malabo Agenda and the implementation of the Program detailed plan for the development of agriculture in Africa (CAADP).
The objective of this conference is to accelerate the implementation of CAADP by clearly defining priorities and implementation strategies, in line with the seven Malabo priority areas of engagement. Indeed, accelerating progress in this area is essential, given the UN Food Systems Summit and the importance of agriculture for sustainable development in Africa.
The Post-Malabo Agenda will also include mainstreaming the Common African Position on Agriculture into the national development plans of African Union Member States. This will require efforts and contributions from technical partners and donors to ensure its successful implementation.
During this conference, meetings will also be organized in the coming months to enable consultation and cooperation between stakeholders. These meetings will also serve to receive inputs and propose a roadmap for the post-Malabo process, which will be presented to the specialized technical committees of the African Union for approval.
The objectives of this conference are multiple. They consist of discussing, securing and aligning the commitments of technical partners and donors in favor of the implementation of the CAADP and the post-Malabo process until 2025. In addition, it will be a question of coordinating donor support to the CAADP activities and to facilitate the means of financing to achieve these objectives.
In conclusion, this conference on the post-Malabo Agenda and the implementation of the Malabo goals in Africa is a crucial step in the development of agriculture in Africa. By accelerating the achievement of CAADP and defining a clear roadmap for the post-Malabo process, this meeting aims to ensure sustainable growth and food security for all African countries.
