“‘Alternative’ exhibition at the Mission Impossible Studio in Kinshasa: discover vibrant Congolese contemporary art”

“Alternative” exhibition at the Mission Impossible Studio in Kinshasa: a showcase for Congolese contemporary art

From July 22, the Mission Impossible Studio, an artistic space located in the commune of Bandalungwa in Kinshasa, hosts the “Alternative” exhibition. This event, organized by three artists who have decided to take their own artistic expression into their own hands, also brings together the work of five other Congolese artists. Between painting, sculpture and photography, this exhibition reveals all the diversity and creativity of Congolese contemporary art.

The Mission Impossible Studio presents itself as an alternative to the difficulties encountered by artists in Kinshasa to exhibit their works. In a city where art is not always privileged, this space offers a forum for expression to local creators. They no longer depend on third parties to exhibit their works and can thus freely present their artistic vision.

“Alternative” is not limited only to an alternative of space, but also to an alternative of glance on the social problems. The artists present in this exhibition offer committed works that challenge the public on subjects such as the relationship with nature, environmental awareness or questions of colonialism.

Christian Kakese, one of the founders of Mission Impossible Studio, presents paintings that call for benevolence towards nature. He wants to make viewers aware of the importance of respecting and protecting our environment, while questioning the paternalistic view of some of the local populations.

The ceramist Bul’s Bulembi, meanwhile, offers meticulous and detailed work. In her works, she seeks to overcome the traditional barriers of the artistic discipline of ceramics. Through her creations, she offers an educational and academic contribution, while addressing societal themes.

The “Alternative” exhibition also brings together artists Maïté Botembe, Francis Mampuya, Magloire Mpaka, Iviart Izamba, Syntyche Mbembo, Stanis Mawanga and Christian Kakese. These talented Congolese artists have found in the Mission Impossible Studio a platform to showcase their art and their vision of the world.

Located near Parking Moulaert, avenue Bukaka 158, in the town of Bandalungwa, the Mission Impossible Studio stands out as an essential place for contemporary art in Kinshasa. Thanks to this “Alternative” exhibition, Congolese artists have finally found a means of expression to share their creations with the public and defend their convictions.

The “Alternative” exhibition at Mission Impossible Studio is an opportunity to discover the talent and commitment of Congolese artists, while questioning our relationship with the world around us. An exhibition not to be missed for all lovers of art and new forms of creative expression
