The Games of La Francophonie are fast approaching and the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa, is actively preparing to host this major sporting and cultural event. Just 29 days before kick-off, Prime Minister Sama Lukonde, accompanied by Minister of Sports François Claude Kabulo Mwana Kabulo and Alexis Gisaro of the ITPR, visited the construction sites of the infrastructure to house the IX Games of Francophonie.
The objective of this visit was to ensure the progress of the rehabilitation and construction works of the various sites. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of respecting the deadlines in order to guarantee the smooth running of this international competition which will bring together young athletes and artists from the five continents to represent their countries.
The first stage of the visit was the site of the Martyrs stadium, where the infrastructure is ready, followed by the Tata Raphaël where some work remains to be done. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the work, but insisted on recalling the importance of staying focused and respecting the deadlines in order to guarantee that all obstacles are removed for the holding of the Games of La Francophonie.
The Head of Government also underlined the instructions of the President of the Republic which aim to ensure that the infrastructures and the organization are ready for this major event. He insisted on the collaboration between all the actors involved in order to concretize the various stages necessary for the success of the Games.
This site visit demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to making this event a success and to highlighting the DRC’s potential on the international scene. The Games of La Francophonie will provide a unique platform to promote culture, sport and exchanges between French-speaking countries.
The DRC is therefore actively preparing to shine during these Games of La Francophonie. Every effort is made to guarantee the success of this event and to offer participating athletes and artists an unforgettable experience in the heart of Kinshasa, a vibrant and dynamic city. We look forward to the kick-off of this great competition which will highlight the talent and diversity of the Francophonie.
