The IX Games of La Francophonie will be held in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), from July 28 to August 6, 2023, according to the decision taken by the Permanent Council of La Francophonie (CPF) during its 123rd session. in Paris on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. The objective of this meeting was to examine the preparations for this great event for French-speaking youth.
To accommodate athletes and artists, the authorities of the Democratic Republic of Congo have planned to build residences at the University of Kinshasa. The final touches in the bedding and the road network will be carried out according to the National Director of the Games, Mr. Isidore Kwandja Ngembo.
The competition teams are expected in large numbers since 3,648 athletes and artists are registered. Despite some concerns about the challenges ahead in the coming weeks, OIF members expressed enthusiasm for the participation of their teams. However, they insisted on the need to guarantee the reception conditions, including the physical and mental health of the athletes and their safety.
Considering that the IX Games of La Francophonie are a major international event, the Congolese authorities will have to work hard to get everything ready for the kick-off. Accommodation infrastructure and sports and cultural competitions must be completed, while ensuring the quality and safety of reception conditions.
In its recommendations, the CPF encouraged the authorities of the country to honor their promise by providing mobility facilities for athletes from the accommodation site to the competition sites. The Permanent Council of La Francophonie (CPF) is responsible for the preparation and follow-up of the Games under the authority of the Ministerial Conference.
Thus, by taking into account the necessary measures for the reception, the IX Games of La Francophonie 2023 will be able to offer an extraordinary experience to the participants and live up to their reputation.
