President Félix Tshisekedi reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the territorial integrity of the Democratic Republic of Congo during his tenure at the head of the country. During an intervention at the jubilee mass of Bernard Kasanda, bishop of the diocese of Mbuji-mayi, the president took the opportunity to warn those who would endanger the security of the country and its stability.
He further stated that he would not back down from threats and intimidation and that, being a Democrat, he had no lessons to take from anyone in this area. The president also said he would unhesitatingly tackle any Congolese who jeopardize the security and stability of their country.
This intervention by President Félix Tshisekedi comes in a context of growing tensions between the power in place and the opposition, as the elections are fast approaching. Several opposition leaders have multiplied protest actions lately to denounce a high cost of living and the establishment of the dictatorship by the regime of Felix Tshisekedi.
Despite these tensions, the president reaffirmed his determination to keep the country united and to pacify it. However, the security situation in the DRC remains precarious, with deadly clashes between the government army and armed groups in certain regions.
The Congolese expect their president to find solutions to put an end to this violence and to improve their daily lives. The success of its governance will be judged on its ability to keep its commitments and respond to the concerns of the population. A major challenge for Félix Tshisekedi and his government
