“Revision of the Constitution in the DRC: An initiative to strengthen institutional stability and internal security”

The Democratic Republic of Congo is in the grip of a situation of crisis and permanent tension, favored by insecurity, social unrest, disease and poverty. In this context, a draft revision of certain provisions of the Constitution was announced by the national deputy Alphonse Ngoyi Kasanji, who wishes to revise several articles such as 2020, 149, 70, 69, 22,10,9 and 6. objective of this initiative is to allow a better fight against external conspiracies, according to the initiators of this project.

This initiative is supported by the Rassemblement pour l’Orientation des Nouveaux Jeunes Majeurs Congolais (Ronjemac), a civil society organization that brings together young people from various provinces of the DRC. Deputy Alphonse Ngoyi Kasanji, former governor of Kasaï-Oriental and member of the Sacred Union of the Nation, has announced his intention to submit this project to the Bureau of the National Assembly. This reform is based on a collection of 100,000 signatures in several communes of Kinshasa.

The MP was involved in several other legislative proposals, in particular those relating to the modification and completion of Law No. 08/012 of July 31, 2008 on the free administration of the provinces, the protection and supervision of children housed by private organizations in the children’s sector and the creation, organization and operation of the Order of Technicians in Rural Development (OTDR).

The Democratic Republic of Congo is facing a major humanitarian crisis, as well as political, economic and social instability which is causing anxiety among the population. This initiative to revise the Constitution could therefore contribute to restoring institutional stability and strengthening the internal security of the DRC. This underlines the urgency of acting to meet the country’s challenges and help build a better future for all Congolese.

In conclusion, the draft revision of the constitutional provisions announced by the national deputy Alphonse Ngoyi Kasanji appears as an initiative aimed at improving the political governance of the DRC, by strengthening the fight against external plots. This reform is the result of the work of Congolese civil society, which seeks to mobilize energies to revive the country and offer a better future to the younger generations.
