“Demonstrations in the DRC: the Congolese opposition denounces the preparation of cheating for the next presidential elections”

Congolese political opponents again took to the streets to protest against the regime in place. Congolese opposition leaders including Fayulu, Matata, Katumbi and Sesanga staged a sit-in outside the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to protest against alleged cheating preparations for the upcoming presidential elections.

The leader of the Piste Pour l’Emergence party, Seth Kikuni, was also present and expressed the position of the opposition. He said: “We understood that we have in front of us people who prepare cheating, people who love violence and people who definitely have things to hide. Their refusal today has strengthened our resolve. We will resist. We are going to fight and I can confirm that Felix Tshisekedi will not win, not even in a dream.

The regime responded by using force to quell protests and prevent opposition leaders from gathering. This situation of constant political tension in the DRC shows no signs of improving, especially with the presidential elections approaching.

The DRC continues to face structural challenges such as scheming and inertia that are hampering its development, all in a context of recurrent electoral conflicts and political tensions. However, a structured program supported by a dynamic media could make the difference in the search for long-term solutions for the well-being of the Congolese population.

Felix Tshisekedi recently started negotiations with China to renegotiate the contract of the century in the DRC. However, the internal political situation remains tense, notably with accusations that Rwanda is behind a conflict in Greater Bandundu.

In the meantime, the Congolese opposition continues to fight for free, credible and transparent elections, essential for the future of the DRC and for the revitalization of Congolese society.
