“Curfew operation in Goma: More than 50 suspected criminals arrested with firearms and drugs.”

The city of Goma, capital of North Kivu province, recently experienced a large-scale curfew operation. Nearly 50 suspected criminals were arrested by security forces and presented to the press.

The districts of Karisimbi and Goma have been the areas of operation for the curfew operation, which is part of a plan launched by the Goma town hall to combat growing crime in the city. The majority of these alleged bandits were arrested in brothels where they only work to deprave morals, according to the town hall’s communication cell.

These people were arrested in possession of military effects, firearms, drugs and hemp. The objective of this operation is also to fight against the depravity of morals in the city.

The presentation of these alleged bandits was made by the Deputy Mayor of Goma, the Principal Superior Commissioner Kapend Kamand Faustin. He called on other bodies that promote morality, such as churches and schools, to increase awareness messages against the depravity of morals, which encourages crime in the city.

It is important to point out that Goma has witnessed many instances of violence and insecurity in recent times and this curfew operation could be the start of a series of measures aimed at reducing crime in the city.
