“2023 Francophonie Games: The DRC is working for a successful organization”

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is actively preparing for the organization of the 9th Games of La Francophonie. This sports competition will be held in Kinshasa, the Congolese capital, from July 28 to August 6, 2023. Despite the short delay before the start of the games, the work is going well, reassure the people of Kinshasa, quoted by Actualité.cd, during a street survey conducted 74 days before the event.

The confidence of the Congolese in the effective holding of the Games of La Francophonie is palpable. According to the opinions collected, the determination of the Congolese State and the efforts made by the Ministry of Sports are reassuring. “The works are progressing, even if some still remain to be done. But we are convinced that they will end on time, ”says Méline Kanza, sports analyst.

For Patricia Ntumba, a student at the Protestant University of Congo (UPC), the DRC will be ready with its sports infrastructure to host the games. She points out that the Congolese have had enough time to build and rehabilitate these infrastructures, even if it has taken a little delay.

Christian Zola, lawyer, maintains that the holding of the Francophonie Games in the DRC is an honor for the country. He trusts the government and the Congolese head of state for the success of the event.

Glody Makiese, meanwhile, indicates that only the end of the work can remove the doubts of the Congolese. “We all want to see those games here. But the government must be able to continue to put pressure on the completion of this work. We need to be reassured with actions and images,” he says.

The Games of La Francophonie are an international competition that brings together the best young talent in French-speaking artists and sportsmen. They were awarded to the DRC on July 2, 2019 and are scheduled for this year after several postponements due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Several states and governments have already confirmed their participation in this 9th edition.

Despite some concerns and reluctance on the part of some, the people of Kinshasa remain optimistic about the effective holding of this major competition in the DRC. The Congolese government still has two months to finalize the work in progress and put in place the necessary measures for the success of the event.
