“The national police of the province of Kasai strengthened thanks to new offices and equipment”

The Congolese national police in the province of Kasai received new offices fully equipped with computer equipment as well as means of transport from the United Nations inter-agency mission. The building handover ceremony took place on May 17 in the town of Tshikapa. The National Vocational Preparation Institute (INPP) also benefited from new training rooms and new buildings. The construction of this infrastructure was part of the PBF project and aims to strengthen the capacity and efficiency of the police in the province.

The Deputy Governor of Kasai, Gaston Nkole Tshimanga, representing the Governor, was present at the ceremony and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of this new equipment.

Images of the ceremony are available on the FatshiMétrie website.

This remittance of funds raises questions about how the new equipment will be used, as well as the efficiency and transparency of the management of these funds allocated to the Congolese national police. Local authorities should put in place monitoring mechanisms to avoid any misuse of these resources.

In short, this initiative of the United Nations inter-agency mission aimed at strengthening the capacities and effectiveness of the police in the province of Kasai is a positive step forward, provided that the beneficiaries make good use of it and that measures monitoring are put in place
