The upsurge in the activities of the “Mobondo” militia in the province of Kwango has aroused the concern of the bishops who are members of the provincial episcopal assembly of Kinshasa (ASSEPKIN), who are holding an ordinary statutory session in Kenge from May 17 to 21. 2023. Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu deplored the situation of terror experienced by the Congolese population of Kwango, who live in fear, uncertainty and anguish”. Faced with this situation, the bishops planned to carry the word of pastor to reassure and encourage the people within the framework of the work of the Assepkin. Cardinal Ambongo advocated an analysis of the security situation prevailing in Kwango, “and which will calm down, I hope, with a powerful message for our people who are waiting for our word”.
This situation is a concrete example of the insecurity of the regions of the DR Congo. Politicians are challenged to find a solution so that the Congolese people can live in peace. They are not the only ones, since the DRC often gives rise to examples of insecurity. As Cardinal Ambongo said, the word of the bishops will perhaps bring some appeasement in this situation.
In the most remote regions of the DR Congo, insecurity is persistent and has immediate consequences on the life of the population. The situation is gloomy, but it is important to continue to talk about it on the various communication platforms. For example, awareness campaigns could be considered to ensure that peace and security are effective in all Congolese territories.
