“International Colloquium: the crucial role of constitutional justice in the consolidation of the rule of law and democracy in the DRC discussed in Kinshasa”

Constitutional justice and electoral disputes were at the heart of an international conference launched this Thursday in Kinshasa, in the DRC, by Prime Minister Jean Michel Sama Lukonde. The meeting aims to reflect on the role of constitutional justice in consolidating the rule of law and democracy in the electoral context of the country. For the Minister of State in charge of justice, Rose Mutombo, constitutional justice “sets a limit to the action of political power” by interpreting the norms while relying on institutions and procedures.

Several panels were organized during the symposium to discuss in particular the contribution of constitutional justice to the rule of law and democracy, to discover the activity of the constitutional judge in the consolidation of the rule of law and the standard of reference of the constitutional judge. Several speakers such as Professor Jacques Djoli, Professor Evariste Boshab and Professor Jean-Louis Esambo moderated the debates.

Thus, these three days of reflection will make it possible to better understand the importance of constitutional justice in the consolidation of the rule of law and democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
