Fight against traffic accidents in Central Kasai in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
According to the report of the National Road Prevention Commission (CNPR), more than 47 cases of traffic accidents were recorded during the first quarter of 2023 in the province of Kasaï central in the DRC. The report shows thirteen deaths and numerous material damages, however representing a decrease compared to the previous quarter thanks to the deployment of CNPR agents to raise awareness of the dangers of the road.
Statistics show that the lack of knowledge of the new road code and the deterioration of the roads are the main causes of these accidents. Indeed, unpaved, poorly compacted and unfilled roads constitute a real danger for road users.
The month of April, however, saw an upsurge in traffic accidents, with seven deaths reported for this period alone. Faced with this alarming situation, the authorities are called upon to strengthen awareness campaigns to avoid tragedies on the roads.
Road safety is a major issue in life in society, and the implementation of appropriate measures to prevent accidents is essential to guarantee the safety of all road users.
