The province of Kwango is currently in the spotlight, with the announcement of the arrival of President Félix Tshisekedi in the coming months. Residents hope to see many improvements in road infrastructure, drinking water supply, electricity and erosion control.
Laurent Batumona, Moral Authority of the Alliance for the Solidarity Movement for Change (AMSC), Alliance of Political Actors for Change in Congo (AAPCCO), and the Alliance and Action for the Rule of Law (AE), recently launched a vibrant call for the convening of a dialogue for lasting peace with a view to ending insecurity. He also presented Félix Antoine Tshisekedi as the sole candidate of the AMSC, AAPCCO and AE for the 2023 presidential election.
Since the break with the FCC-CACH coalition, President Tshisekedi seems to want to redress the country and make commitments for the population. However, some politicians are trying to sell illusions and it is important for the people of Kwango province to make a responsible choice for the upcoming elections.
The subject of security is also topical, with the call by the United States for the withdrawal of Rwandan forces from the province of North Kivu to guarantee peace. But local and national authorities often disagree on the best method to preserve resources and the environment, as with the ban on fishing in Lake Tanganyika.
At the same time, the inhabitants have to deal with other problems such as temperature fluctuations in Lubumbashi, financial difficulties for the KCC and violence in Beni North Kivu.
Fortunately, there are also more positive topics like Cédric Bakambu’s performance in the Greek football championship. The DRC has potential despite the challenges and the inhabitants need to be informed about the news in order to make informed decisions for their future
