“Natural disasters and terrorism: the state of chaos persists in the Democratic Republic of Congo”.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to be the scene of multiple security problems. The Bandundu-Bagata-Maï Ndombe Military Court sentenced nine defendants to death for terrorism related to the Teke-Yaka conflict in the Twa sector, Mai-Ndombe territory.

In addition, six other defendants were sentenced to 20 years of main penal servitude for participation in an insurrectionary movement. Four defendants were acquitted for lack of evidence and another had his guilt extinguished following his death.

Be that as it may, the actions of the civil parties were received and founded by the court, which allocated the sum of 10,000 USD to each of them.

Unfortunately, this is not the only negative news in the country since a natural disaster has struck the town of Kalehe, prompting the mobilization of MONUSCO and MSF to come to the aid of the victims.

In addition, armed attacks continue to cause many victims and the political opposition demands the audit of the electoral register before the 2023 elections.

Ultimately, the situation in the DRC remains extremely worrying and requires strong measures to restore peace and security in the country.
