Growing insecurity in the province of Kwango in the Democratic Republic of Congo: a major challenge for the population.

The province of Kwango in the Democratic Republic of Congo is plagued by growing insecurity. Following the bloody clashes between the Congolese armed forces and the Mobondo militia, several inhabitants of the village of Batshongo found refuge in the neighboring village of Pont Kwango. According to the report presented by the authorities, these fights caused the death of eleven people and injured seven others.

To help people in distress, the local government has instituted a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. throughout the province. This emergency system was reinforced by joint patrols carried out jointly by law enforcement and defense forces.

Nevertheless, this answer does not seem like a lasting solution in the eyes of some experts. Indeed, insecurity, violence and community violence are major issues in the DRC. Rwanda’s repeated attacks further fuel this complex situation.

In this tense context, international news is also marked by the 49th General Assembly of the Board of the Global Fund, which is taking place this year in Hanoi. On this occasion, the African representatives highlighted the importance of the local supply of medicines to fight effectively against diseases.

On the sidelines of the event, Jeanpy Kabongo, a Congolese artist, presented an original artistic initiative, which combines photography and Kuba carpets to reconnect with his cultural heritage.

Finally, the Congo is also facing economic and food problems. Maize shortages in Katanga and Kasai are causing concern for the national deputy, who stresses that import agreements are not a lasting solution.

Faced with these multiple challenges, the DRC must make considerable efforts to strengthen the security of its citizens and improve the quality of life of its population.
