The Nationalist and Integrationist Front (FNI) political party held a three-day congress in Bunia, capital of Ituri province from Thursday May 11 to Saturday May 13, 2023. The objective of this congress was to take important decisions for the future of this political party.
The congressmen announced the end of the division in the political parties of Ituri, sealing an alliance with the political party Union pour la nation congolaise (UNC) of Vital Kamerhe for the upcoming elections within the framework of the Sacred Union of the nation. This union will allow the FNI to strengthen its position on the national political scene.
During this congress, FNI members also rehabilitated Floribert Ndjabu as national president of the party for the next five years. They also decided to support the candidacy of Félix Tshisekedi for the supreme magistracy.
However, the FNI not only discussed its own political restructuring, but also validated the candidates’ candidacies for the upcoming legislative and municipal elections.
The FNI was created in 2005 after the pacification of Ituri and actively participated in provincial politics during the Grande Orientale until the dismemberment of the provinces.
With a provincial deputy within it, this party can strengthen its position on the central political scene. The FNI is therefore sharpening its weapons, in particular to swell several seats in the December 2023 elections and restore peace throughout the national territory.
