“Cardinal Ambongo criticizes the regime in place and inaugurates a bridge, the DRC faces economic and security challenges”

Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo once again aroused attention by launching during his pastoral visit to Popokabaka a spade against the regime in place, arguing that the country was in bad shape. He also urged local people to live in love and peace, denouncing the atrocious violence which he described as political manipulation. This new position comes a few months after his fierce opposition to the Tshiani Bill, which he considered discriminatory towards part of the population.

In addition, Cardinal Ambongo inaugurated the Nganga bridge built by the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) in partnership with the Congolese government. This bridge represents real progress for the region. However, the country faces several economic and security challenges, which compromise its development.

President Félix Tshisekedi recently presented investment opportunities in the DRC during his official visit to Botswana. Local capacities must be strengthened and the supply of locally produced medicines must be supported to improve the health of the population.

Unfortunately, some provinces are experiencing humanitarian crises such as the shortage of maize in the province of Kwango, which pushes the Deputy Jean-Jacques Mpanga wa Lukalaba to challenge the Ministry of Agriculture to find a solution to this situation.

In addition, the security situation remains worrying, as shown by the declaration of the disaster area of Kalehe due to deadly floods. The provinces of Kongo Central and Kwango are facing humanitarian crises, requiring rapid intervention by the authorities and increased awareness of road safety to avoid fatal accidents.

Finally, the DRC needs stability to develop, and this implies resolving the different policies and guaranteeing the security of the citizens. It’s a tall order, but investment opportunities and recent advances show the country has the potential to make progress.
