“Kwango in the DRC under curfew: Worrying security situation in the province and other issues to watch”

The province of Kwango in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been placed under curfew by the provincial security council. This decision follows a worrying security situation in the region which requires a reinforcement of soldiers sent from Kinshasa to help restore public order. The spokesperson for the provincial executive called on the population to strictly respect this measure until the situation is under control.

In parallel with this tense situation, several other themes deserve our attention in the DRC. In particular, awareness of road safety which is more necessary than ever following two road accidents in Kongo Central which caused one death and several injuries. Or, the humanitarian crisis affecting the country and requiring urgent mobilization to meet growing needs.

In other parts of the country, the new civil society is sounding the alarm about the safety of the inhabitants of the Babila Babombi chiefdom. While the president of the DRC is inspired by the model of Botswana to improve the diamond industry and strengthen internal security.

These different subjects reflect a complex and varied current situation in the DRC, which deserves special attention to better understand the issues that cross this region of the world.
