“Félix Tshisekedi reassures his compatriots on peace in eastern DRC during his visit to Botswana”

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, visiting Botswana on May 12, gave a reassuring speech to his compatriots. He solemnly pledged to impose peace in the east of the country, affirming that this process will be facilitated thanks to the defense system under construction. According to him, no dialogue will be envisaged with the terrorists supported by Rwanda, responsible for the devastation of Congolese natural resources.

The President also criticized the inaction of the regional EAC force, asking them to be more professional in their approach to the situation in the DRC. However, he hailed the solidarity of his peers, who expressed their desire to pacify the east of the country.

On the economic front, Félix Tshisekedi underlined the importance of the local transformation of Congolese natural resources before their export to create wealth and jobs. He notably mentioned the Botswanan model in terms of the diamond industry, which he intends to set up in his country.

This official visit to Botswana was also an opportunity for the President of the Republic to reaffirm the importance of cooperation between African countries. He inaugurated the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo in this country, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula, the Minister of State, Minister of Regional Integration, Antipas Mbusa Nyamwisi and of the Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya.

These presidential statements mark an important step for the stability and prosperity of the DRC. However, implementing these key measures will not be easy and will require the commitment of all stakeholders, including the international community.
