The modernization of the ports of the Democratic Republic of Congo has become a priority for the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde. A working meeting was held with some members of the government to discuss port modernization projects, notably those of Banana, SCTP and SNCC.
During this meeting, the Minister of Transport and Ways of Communication reported that the Prime Minister gave clear guidelines on the need to implement the various modernization projects. Among the service providers selected, there is DP World, which is currently carrying out the first rockfill works on the site of the deep-water port of Banana in central Kongo.
This modernization of ports is a major challenge for the country, which must improve its infrastructure to facilitate the transport of goods and stimulate the economy. The modernization projects are therefore encouraging for the development of the DRC.
