The city of Beni, in North Kivu, continues to suffer the horrors of banditry, even with the state of siege in force in the region. This Friday, May 12, the Congolese National Police presented to the press 22 suspected bandits, including three women arrested in a bar in the Malepe district, in the heart of the city.
During this presentation, the PNC called on the population to actively collaborate with law enforcement to put an end to crime in the city. But it is important to note that the state of siege has not yet brought the results expected by the authorities, which underlines the need for more coordinated and effective action to stem this resurgence of insecurity.
In a more global context, the DRC continues to face major challenges in terms of stability and security, in particular with the resurgence of attacks by the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF) in the Beni region. The government has launched several large-scale operations to restore order and peace in the affected towns, but much remains to be done to ensure the safety of Congolese.
