Congolese opposition: the march postponed to May 20, 2023 to denounce the situation in the east of the country

2023-05-13

Congolese opponents Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Delly Sesanga and Matata Ponyo have announced a postponement of their march, initially scheduled for May 13, 2023, for May 20, 2023. This decision comes after that of Kinshasa City Hall, who had decided to postpone this same march to May 18 for security reasons.

These opponents wanted to march through the streets of Kinshasa to denounce in particular the situation in the eastern part of the country, where Rwanda is accused of supporting the armed group M23. This march is therefore postponed, but the opposition continues to show its support for the Congolese people who are still suffering the horrors of the conflict in this region.

In addition, the Congolese government has just renewed its commitment to the modernization of ports in the DRC. This initiative is presented as a priority by the Prime Minister to improve the country’s trade with other nations.

Finally, on the occasion of International Nurses Day, the National Order of Nurses of Congo deplored the lack of equipped hospitals in the country. Nurses and resuscitators are on the front line to help patients, but they are sorely lacking in the means to exercise their profession in good conditions.
