The march organized by Martin Fayulu, Moise Katumbi, Delly Sesanga and Augustin Matata in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been postponed. Initially scheduled for May 13, it had been postponed to the 18 by order of the provincial government of Kinshasa. However, the four presidential candidates have chosen to postpone it to May 20, denouncing the attitude of the urban authorities and wishing to avoid “falling into the trap” that would have been set for them.
The group of opponents, which also brings together other Congolese political figures, had planned to carry out joint actions to ensure that the presidential elections are organized within the constitutional deadlines. The candidates thus called on the population to demonstrate their resistance and to exercise citizen vigilance in the face of the rise in insecurity, the rise in prices and the poverty of the population, as well as the poor management of the electoral process.
On May 20, this “great march” in Kinshasa should make it possible to denounce the current situation in the DRC and to exert pressure so that the elections are organized within the time limits. This march is the first in a series of actions announced by the group of opponents, who wish to bring the Congolese people’s struggle for a true rule of law to a successful conclusion.
At the same time, other topics are covered on the Fatshimetry.org blog, including the humanitarian crisis in eastern DRC, the delicate issue of dowry and polygamy, and the signing of an economic partnership between the President Félix Tshisekedi and his Botswana counterpart to promote investment and job creation. The situation in the DRC being complex, an analysis of several subjects is necessary to understand the political and economic issues of the country.
