News in the Democratic Republic of Congo: The opposition postpones its march scheduled for this Saturday
Last Thursday, Gratien Nsakala, provincial minister in charge of the Interior and Security of Kinshasa, announced the postponement of the march scheduled for May 13, following a consensual decision taken during a meeting between the opposition and the Governor Gentiny Ngobila.
However, the opposition leaders, Martin Fayulu, Moise Katumbi, Delly Sesanga and Augustin Matata, join forces to organize a demonstration on May 18, with the aim of denouncing the growing insecurity, the high cost of living, the misery of the people as well as the chaotic electoral process in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In a call for resistance, they urge the population to show citizen vigilance and to exercise their right to demonstrate to obtain the organization of elections within the constitutional deadline. “We refuse to live in suffering. Hunger has exacerbated us and prices are only going up. We don’t want insecurity. All together, out this Saturday,” said Moise Katumbi.
Civil society is also called to join this march, which marks the beginning of a series of future actions, according to the opposition leaders who remain united in their fight for the Congolese people for a true rule of law.
In the meantime, we will closely follow the development of this situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
