The low participation rate in the out-of-session tests of the 2023 edition of the State exams in the Banande-Kainama group, in the territory of Beni (North Kivu) is of concern to local civil society. According to the president of the citizen structure, Jonas Kisumba, this rate is observed this year with a lower participation compared to last year. The low participation is caused by the violence perpetrated in the region by ADF terrorists which led to the closure of a school. Some students have already moved to other more secure areas.
Faced with this situation, civil society pleads for a restoration of peace in the region and welcomes the efforts of the Congolese (FARDC) and Ugandan (UPDF) armed forces which have launched an operation to repress ADF terrorists, thus calming the situation in Kainama region. Despite this, only 11 finalists represent this group in the grip of ADF attacks during these events.
