On May 10, 2023, Patrice-Rainier Mangenda, former Deputy Secretary General of the Congolese Federation of Football Association (FECOFA), sent a letter to the Secretary General of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), Mrs Fatma Samoura, denouncing the bad intentions of the standardization committee set up a few days ago.
In his letter, Patrice-Rainier Mangenda expressed his exasperation with the deterioration of the working environment at FECOFA, in particular the dissolution of the entire general secretariat while elections at all levels are scheduled in a few months. He noted that this could mean that the General Secretariat wants to avoid any assessment of what led to the current situation of FECOFA.
Mangenda also revealed that the financial management of FECOFA is opaque, with bank transfers and levelings carried out without informing the secretary general – who is however statutorily responsible for FECOFA’s accounts. He added that the audit of almost two years of management is necessary to map the use of funds generated from media and other rights, which are available to Mr. Sambi without control.
In addition, Mangenda accused the normalization committee of wanting to stray from its mission by extending the lease from FECOFA, using the Leopards development funds, which should be used for age group teams who have difficulty. difficult to obtain state funding. According to the former deputy secretary general, everything indicates that the standardization committee has resolved to voluntarily step out of its mission and thus extend the FECOFA lease.
Mangenda’s letter raises serious concerns about the leadership of FECOFA and the way its finances are managed. FIFA should investigate these allegations to ensure that FECOFA and the normalization committee carry out their duties with integrity
