“Finalist students forced to flee their homes to pass the baccalaureate: the overwhelming testimony of North Kivu”

North Kivu, one of the provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been hit by relentless conflict, leaving thousands of people displaced. Among them are finalist students, in exams for the Bac, who have been forced to leave their home territory of Rutshuru and part of Nyiragongo. They are now scattered in centers located in Goma, the main city of the province.

The out-of-session State Examinations have been organized by the sub-provédus of the EPST in the territory of Nyiragongo and are taking place without incident for the moment. Shukuru Kisuka Babi, the sub-proved in question, was reassuring by saying that discipline is observed and that the final candidates moved are in well supervised centers.

This tragedy arouses general indignation on the part of the international community, which has provided financial support, in particular with the granting of a sum of 46,000 USD given to the governor of North Kivu by the Nobel Peace Prize winner Denis Mukwege. last April. A total of 16,521 candidates took part in these tests, including 8,426 girls, or 51%.

Unfortunately, several hundred finalists still in areas under M23 occupation do not have access to these tests. The situation is alarming, and their academic future is uncertain. Times are difficult for these finalists who face immense challenges to achieve their goals and realize their dream.
