Refugee camps report 1,000 cases each week.
It’s hard to believe that people are still dying from this disease. But that’s exactly what’s happening in the refugee camps in North Kivu province. Nearly 1,000 cases are being reported every week. According to humanitarian workers, it was necessary to build large-scale facilities at the center because it could not accommodate all patients. The other two are said to be at a shelter for displaced persons. Health officials said seven people had died. Since November 26, more than 250 patients have been admitted to the centre. The local government has announced a cholera outbreak in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
