Restoring hope: Bekwarra finally finds the light

Residents of Bekwarra area of ​​Cross River State, Nigeria, can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, literally. After a long period of 15 years in darkness, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) has successfully restored power supply to the area. The news was greeted with enthusiasm by the locals, who expressed gratitude to the administration of Senator Bassey Otu for fulfilling its campaign promise to restore electricity to the area.

Innocent Inaku, the PHEDC Regional Manager for North and Central Cross River State, highlighted the crucial role played by Governor Otu in this achievement. He explained that Bekwarra had been plunged into darkness due to dilapidated electricity infrastructure and repeated acts of vandalism. However, with the determination of the governor, an action plan was put in place to reconnect and rehabilitate the electricity grid in a phased manner.

To date, two of these transformers have been commissioned, providing electricity to part of the community.
